GET TO KNOW ME

I am a positive-minded, team player who loves adventure and is not afraid to take risks. My friends would describe me as energetic, creative, and dependable. I would describe myself as the funniest person in the room.

I grew up near the beach outside of Los Angeles CA, so my home has always been a dichotomy between appreciating the beauty of nature while also loving big city life. Health and wellness are important values in my life, so I try to be intentional about eating well, staying fit, and living an overall balanced lifestyle–physically and emotionally. Some of my interests and hobbies include volleyball, dance, fashion design, going to the beach, and spending time with family!

As an extrovert, I get my energy from being around people so I enjoy spending time in social settings. It sparks great joy to work alongside other creative people and to bring friends together for fun activities and shared experiences. Therefore, it makes sense that I have discovered a passion for event planning! In the last couple years, I have helped coordinate a charity fundraiser, a women's conference, high-end weddings and several other events.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Throughout my teens, I was very involved in my church's youth program. I served as a student leader by organizing plans for youth group meetings and events, giving Sunday morning announcements, and by actively welcoming newcomers. I also participated in volunteer activities on the weekends throughout Los Angeles such as serving at a soup kitchen on Skid Row and re-painting rundown buildings in underserved communities.

In high school, I was a member of the California Scholarship Federation. Through this program, I helped with various projects that focused on cleaning up the local community.

While in college, I had several opportunities to serve my community for Christ. I volunteered as Director of Logistics & Production for a small charity fundraiser at my University. My team and I spent the semester planning and organizing an event to raise money for gang intervention in Los Angeles. A year later, I joined a planning committee to help organize an annual women's conference through BIOLA's business department. I also got to serve low-income families by helping at a local food bank.

TRAVEL

For my fall semester of 2016, I had the opportunity to study abroad at the University of Roehampton in London, England. I also took advantage of my time abroad to visit other countries such as Italy, Greece, Ireland, and France. The experience was life-changing in ways that I did not expect. Beyond appreciating the beauty of Europe and a few of its many cultures, traveling  broadened my global perspective and changed my attitude towards people of different cultures.

I realized how closed off America can be to what is happening in the rest of the world. This made me want to be, not only a better-informed American citizen, but someone with concern for the global community. Traveling to a melting pot like London also made me appreciate the beauty of different cultures, especially when all those diverse people can live together in harmony. My hometown of Los Angeles is a very diverse city as well, but by putting myself in the role of "foreigner," it changed the way I view immigrants. By building relationships with people from different countries, I learned that, regardless of where a person is from, we are all the same when it comes to our humanity.
